Short Story:

It is not unusual for me to run into someone on the street at NPH. We (the IS department) will walk around the block on our 9:30 and 2:30 breaks, to get a breath of fresh air. Recently as we were completing our walking experience for the day, we ran into a guy who asked if we spoke English. I was a little thrown off by the question. As we slowly turned to listen to the man he informed us that he lived in Grandview and was needing bus money to get back because he couldn’t get a hold of anyone. One of us offered the Lobby phone so that he could get into contact with someone who can give him a ride. He said “I have a phone” while holding up his cell phone. So we offered him what money we had on us and went on our way.

Shortly after I arrived at my desk I looked up and noticed a Post-It note I had written to myself months earlier with the name Ted on it. You see Ted was pretty cool guy I met on the street a couple months ago. We had some pretty good conversations that ended with me telling him, “If you ever need anything just come inside that building and ask for me.” But there was something more, something wasn’t right about the story I just heard. I began trying to remember what Ted looked like. I remembered a man with a beard and red hat, check. But wait, Ted didn’t tell me this story when I talked to him a couple months ago..naa couldn’t be him. Upon further reflection I remembered even further back when Jonathan, Richard, and I were on the town grabbing a bite to eat. THAT’S where I heard the story before! It was Ted back then too. Dang. It makes me sad when I feel I’m helping someone out and they end up not doing what they said they would. Oh well…I can still pray for them.

  • Our small group is doing great! Our numbers are increasing and if we keep going at the rate we are, it could end up being a Wednesday night service.

The 25 hour day.

I worked a 25hour day on Monday-Tuesday. That was fun. Not recommended.
